Our Head Greenkeeper is pleased to announce that from Thursday 15th December 2021 the Third (3rd) and Fourteenth (14th) greens are back in play.
He’s reported that they are not perfect and recovery is very slow, the seed has germinated and greens had a feed the other day to help try and establish the seed but due to the time of the year this is a slow process with little growth. Unfortunately, they also have scarring from a disease, this is due to being forced to topdress them with the damage caused by the bikes which consequently caused the disease outbreak. Again the wrong time of the year to be applying topdressing but with the severity of the damage caused we didn’t have much choice.
We have also re-seeded any areas where the seed has struggled to establish, both greens have been double cut with the hand mower today (Wednesday 15 December 2021) to try and get some kind of surface back for the golfers and considering the circumstances, the greens are rolling ok. We have positioned the holes as far away from the damage as possible, however, if a golfer does have to putt over a damaged area it doesn’t affect the ball roll.
Thank you for your patience on this matter.
