Calderfields Golf & Country Club are looking to recruit a qualified Deputy Head Green-keeper to join our existing team.

Set in 140 acres of landscaped countryside just outside Walsall, West Midlands- Calderfields offers an 18 hole parkland golf course, fishing lake and an under construction par 3 course. The par 72 measures 6,599 yards from the back tees giving a challenge to even the experienced golfer alternatively the middle or front tees will provide a very enjoyable round.

The Golf Club is fast approaching its half centenary and in recent years has become recognised by the County Golf Unions where it has hosted multiple County fixtures. The venue is also one of the Midlands’ top places to visit for play and stay golfers from around the UK with an excellent food and beverage facility to compliment the ever-improving golf course.

Ideal Candidates must have:

  • Must have minimum 3-5 years’ experience in greenkeeping
  • Familiar with the use of using and setting up grass machinery
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Sports Turf (desirable)
  • Pesticide PA1/2/6 (desirable)
  • Chainsaw qualifications (desirable)
  • First Aid at Work qualified (desirable, but can be provided)

Responsibilities

  • To be able to support the Head Greenkeeper and actively contribute to the team on a daily basis.
  • In the absence of the Head Greenkeeper, the Deputy will assume leadership of the team and the golf course,
  • To providing support for operational delivery and decision-making to ensure the continued delivery of the playing experience remains high.
  • To be able to delegate and give instructions to other members of staff
  • To be flexible, reliable and punctual.

Our new Deputy Head Green-keeper will have:

  • A passion for green-keeping with good attention to detail
  • The ability to delegate tasks and monitor progress
  • Extreme motivation and be able to work individually as well as in a team,
  • Enthusiasm and be proactive in moving the golf course/club to the next level and support the Head Green keeper both on a daily basis and in their absence.
  • Smart personal presentation and polite manner
  • A good work ethic which includes being reliable and punctual.

Job Type

  • Full Time, contract 40 hour working week including weekends / bank holidays required on a rota basis
  • 28 days annual leave
  • Salary will be appropriate with the position and qualifications as well as experience above £27,500, this will be discussed at the interview
