Update on the Model Local Rule E-3.

The Model Local Rule E-3 will now incorporate throughout the course from 4^th January 2025 until further notice. Please check all noticeboards and messages from BRS before you play.

MODEL LOCAL RULE E-3 PREFERRED LIES.

When any part of a player’s ball touches or lies on a fairway the player may take free relief once by placing the original ball or another ball and playing it from this relief area:

• Reference point: Spot of the original ball.
• Size of Relief Area measured from Reference Point: 6 inches from the reference point but with these limits:
  • • • • • • • • • • Must not be nearer the hole than the reference point, and,
                    • Must be in the general area (throughout the course).

Only the preferred lies model local rule E-3 allows the player to substitute another ball when taking relief

Penalty for playing ball from wrong place in breach of local rule: General penalty under rule 14.7a is,

Loss of hole in match play or two strokes in Stroke play.
