Calderfields hosts fantastic free night for key workers!

Friday 1st October saw Calderfields Hotel, Golf & Country Club host a FREE evening for 161 key workers of Walsall and Aldridge.

The idea was born and driven by Club member, David Pottinger who quickly recruited the assistance of Club Captain, Mr Alan Ratcliffe and General Manager, Dan Lowe who set about to create the event.

In 2020 and 2021 the Directors and Management of the Club made the generous decision to refund a staggering £61,000 in golf club subscriptions to its loyal members who continued to support the venue throughout the pandemic. This generous offer was then matched by the Club’s members when Mr Pottinger led a donation campaign with some members pledging up to £100 of their money to the worthy cause.

Calderfields personally wrote to several organisations and charities where the staff had been forced to work through the pandemic in critical roles within the community. The invite included a complimentary arrival drink and a two course carvery followed by a late night disco. To add to the entertainment, local magician Dean Brindley also offered his services, free of charge to add that little extra sparkle to the evening.

Once the guests had enjoyed their dinner, the evening rolled into a luxury raffle with every table guaranteed a prize! The prizes included Spa weekends at the Belfy, an overnight stay in one of Calderfields log cabins and tickets to a Michael Buble Christmas Tribute.

Alan Ratcliffe, Club Captain said, “It was the least we could do for so many fantastic people within the Walsall area. I think we are starting to see light at the end of the tunnel now and hopefully other than the odd booster jab once a year we should never slip back into the pandemic of 2020!”

Dan Lowe, General Manager added; “I was proud that as a company we were initially able to give our loyal members a refund following the golf they missed throughout lockdown, but, it was very humbling when the membership asked me to help them organise and event to give something back to the local key workers of Walsall”

Michelle Burnett, an attending guest said “I just wanted to say a personal big thank you to you all at Calderfields for the fantastic time we at Manor House all had.

The food, entertainment and staff were amazing and it was lovely to see colleagues and friends out together celebrating.”
